I have been coaching my sisters youth team for 3 seasons now. This year we had to move up to the 13 - 15 age group in our area. Having 4 12 year olds, 7 13 year olds, 1 14 and 1 15 year old it has been a tough season. We have the youngest team in our league of 15 teams, but the 12 year olds did not want left behind so I told them they could move up with me. Out of these 15 teams my girls finished in 10th place to go into playoffs. Last night they had their first playoff game and WON! My sister hit her first grand slam (second home run) ever! I was so proud of what the girls had accomplished. No matter what happens in the rest of playoffs these girls will always be winners!

My daughter Morgan is in her first year playing for the 10U travel team. She has always been a talented player but this year she has grown even more. In previous years she used to play third base, but for several games last year in rec ball she was fooling around and asked to be catcher. Now she is starting catcher for the Starzz travel team. Since we started playing tournaments in early June, Morgan has been starting catcher for each and every ENTIRE game over the tournament weekend. As everyone knows minimum amount of games played over the weekend is usually 4-5. In our league one girl either pitching or catching for one entire weekend is unheard of. Most coaches willl rotate at least two catchers over the weekend so one girl doesnt get too tired. Morgan never complains and never wants to miss an inning. Not only has she caught for ALL games but in some tournaments the opposing team gets to pick an MVP from our team to recieve a metal. Morgan has been elected MVP 6 out of 7 times. After almost every game the opposing coach usually always searches me out to comment and compliment me on her abilities. We finished our rec league season against 12U girls UNDEFEATED. So far this season weve won 1 ASA championship and came in second in another.
Not only can the Morgan catch and throw but she usually gets at least a double when she gets up to bat! She averages at least 6 outs every game by throwing down and getting girls out on any base! She's smart a smart player at a very early age, her coach and I cant say enough about her!

Our 10U team just finished 3rd in the Dixie League State Tournament here in NC. 3rd ain't first I know but considering we got obliterated, torched, toasted, roasted, Scottish dressed----kilt and any other negative version of whitewash you can think of during last years regionals with nearly this same group of girls who were the youngest in the league we are very proud of their recent accomplishments.

My daughter played their first tournament for the spring and came in 2 in the A bracket out of 19 teams. One of her friends (Molly) hit an in the park grand slam and then my daughter(Taylor) game up behind her and hit an in the park home run. They scored 34 runs and only gave up 2 in one game and 8 in the championship game. It was a one day tournament.

My Five Cities Team got Second place in the end of the winterball season, down and dirty tourney in Rocklin Ca. We focused all year on preparing for one team that was undefeated and had the best pitcher in the league.
We battled them tough in the championship and had them on the ropes without our #1 pitcher and leadoff hitter.
We ended up loosing late in the game but the parents, girls and coaches felt we over achieved with the talent level we started with. I think they just started playing good ball because they had been working on improving each game.
on a personal coaching proud accomplishment;

One of the girls on my league team this summer picked up a bat and ball for the first time ever in March. She was a soccer player and wanted to try something new. Lucky she ended up on my team. She was 13 at the time. I recognized some raw talent and began to put some focus on her development and she responded by making the 16u Allstar team. Did not get a lot of playing time but when she was in she did pretty well. A couple of hits and one double in two of the games. She was also on my winterball team and lead the team in many hitting categories. I was really proud when her parents came to me at the end of the season and asked what she could do over the winter to keep improving her game. Apparently she fell in love with softball. I am truly proud of her accomplishments and feel good about the positive feedback I received as a result of her success.

My daughter has been playing softball since she was 5. She was not always the best player on the team but she loved to play and always worked hard to be the best she could be. As a senior in high school her team won a state championship and she was one of the best players on the team. She now plays in college on a DI team, she will be a sophomore this year and we could not be prouder. This picture is from warm-ups before a game last year: as you can see she is still working hard.

My daughter has really worked hard on her batting this summer. She was a heavy hitter but she was determined to be even better. She has always gone to lessons but now she wants to know the ins & outs of hitting so she can know when she does something wrong. They need to learn how to be a coach to themself and this has really helped her. She hit a triple, 2 doubles and several singles at her last one day tournament. The triple hit the fence. She was excited because she is begining to see the fruit of her labor. By the way her team won 1ST place.
